The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), the global sector’s trade association, foresees that all active cruise vessels will resume operation by August 2022, with a full normalization coming next year.
In presenting a relevant report, CLIA’s general director for Europe, Marie-Caroline Laurent, also referred to Greece and the sector, saying the resumption of seaborne holidays is a welcome relief for nearly 11,000 people directly or indirectly employed by the cruise sector.
According to the report, more than 75 percent of room capacity of CLIA members has alrealy returned to operation.
The total impact of the sector on the global economy was 63.4 billion USD in pandemic-battered 2020, significantly down from 154 billion USD in 2019.
